Advantages

High lumen output. The HD20 generates 633 lumens in Cinema setting, at least on our test sample. This is effortlessly sufficient light for a 135″ angled screen in a room with good light control, or a 100″ angled screen in a room with some ambient light. Much more remarkable, the HD20’s Cinema mode still offers a substantial 505 lumens, even in low light mode. So you get a extremely vibrant image and also extended lamp life all at one time.

For content in which you would prefer increased brightness, but don’t need the most beneficial color accuracy, “Bright” setting produces 954 ANSI lumens. This is well suited for High definition sports, or any time you have the room lights turned up. Vibrant mode lowers color saturation, but it allows you to bring the HD20 out of the dark theatre and into the living room, whether for that big game or maybe your child’s video game system.

ANSI Contrast. Despite the projector’s 4000:1 full on/off contast rating, the HD20 measured 456:1 ANSI contrast in our checks. This puts it on a stage with several of the more impressive 1080p LCD projectors introduced a year ago, but below the more complex 1080p DLP projectors. ANSI contrast doesn’t tell the whole story, but it is a good sign of the vibrant array that will come in any one image.

Minimal digital noise. When compared to a 1080p DLP projector that cost almost twice as much, the HD20 showed an amazingly low amount of digital noise. Too much digital sound makes a image appear grainy or volatile, and these effects can sometimes distract the viewer and compromise the concentration in the experience. The HD20’s low level of noise helps make the image appear smoother, holistic, and less unproductive than it might otherwise.

Logical menu system. The menu system is easy, having a logical, ordered design. Using a little common sense, it’s easy to find what you are looking for. Image adjustments are under the Image menu; aspect ratio and masking alterations are found in the Display menu, lamp and placement settings are found in the System menu.
